Ogden police said a 41-year-old woman died Saturday after her ex-boyfriend allegedly confronted and shot her in a Smith’s parking lot at 1485 Harrison Blvd.

The woman was identified by police on Monday as Mindee Lavell Elmore.

The man fled the scene on Saturday in a vehicle but was found and identified in front of a home in the 900 block of Maple Street. He had a semiautomatic handgun and refused to surrender, according to police. Nearby homes were evacuated. He shot himself after a “multihour negotiation” and was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

The man’s name has not been released.

Multiple neighbors live-streamed the standoff between the man and the Ogden Metro SWAT Team on Facebook. Ogden residents watching those videos commented that they were sad for the victim and her family. Video taken by one neighbor appears to show the man shooting himself in the head.
