A West Valley City man who claimed he killed his friend in self-defense has been charged with murder.

Glen Clark Hogue, 59, was charged in 3rd District Court with one count of murder, a first-degree felony, and one count of felony discharge of a weapon with injury, a second-degree felony.

On March 23, Hogue called 911 to report that he’d shot his friend, Troy Frampton, 60, in a motorhome parked outside Hogue’s house. When police officers arrived, they found Frampton dead inside the motorhome, with gunshot wounds to his chest and face, according to the charges.

Hogue told police he and Frampton had been drinking; that Frampton brought a gun; that Hogue took the gun from him; and that the gun went off, the bullet striking the floor of the motorhome, when Frampton tried to take it back.

Frampton became “belligerent,” Hogue told police, demanding the return of his gun. So, Hogue added, he “jacked a round into” the chamber of the gun and told Frampton to sit down. And later, Frampton rushed at Hogue, who told police he shot his friend twice.

Hogue was booked into the Salt Lake County jail, where he is being held without bail.
