Summer is almost here, and there is nothing better in hot weather than a lick of an ice cream cone or a sip of a milkshake.

Luckily for Utahns, new ice cream shops have been opening left and right lately, including a new location of MilkShake Factory in the new Holladay Hills development on the site of the old Cottonwood mall.

Located at 1920 E. Rodeo Drive, suite D60, in Holladay, MilkShake Factory may be a national chain (started in Pittsburgh), but it was founded by Greek immigrants, according to its website — just like some big-name food establishments that are now synonymous with Utah (like the state’s trifecta of Greek burger places).

MilkShake Factory is known for its “handspun” milkshakes — typically made with hard ice cream and milk using a spindle mixer — in decadent flavors like Southern Banana Pudding, Cookie Jar and Chocolatier. It also has its own line of chocolates, including cake pops and chocolate bark.

On Saturday, Milkshake Factory is celebrating the second anniversary of its Pleasant Grove location, at 876 S. North County Blvd., suite E, according to a news release. That day, guests at that location can buy one milkshake and get one free.
