When you bury Kentucky on national television, it stands to reason you’ll get some recognition.

Utah sophomore guard Timmy Allen was named Pac-12 Player of the Week on Monday. The award comes after Allen scored 25 points to go along with nine rebounds and four assists in a 69-66 upset win over the sixth-ranked Wildcats in Las Vegas on Wednesday.

Allen followed that up by scoring a game-high 21 points Saturday in an 80-52 loss to 20th-ranked San Diego State on Saturday in Los Angeles.

Allen, who was previously named Pac-12 Player of the Week on Dec. 9 after big efforts against BYU and Central Arkansas, currently leads the Pac-12 in scoring at 21.0 points per game.

Utah, which went 9-3 against its non-conference schedule, is off until Jan. 2 when it opens Pac-12 play against Oregon State at the Huntsman Center. No. 6 Oregon, owner of one of the nation’s best resumes to this point, visits Salt Lake City on Jan. 4.
