Utah falls to Duke in first round of NCAA Lacrosse Championships

Blue Devils pull away in first quarter en route to 19-7 victory.

Second-seeded Duke defeated Utah 19-7 in the first round of the NCAA Lacrosse Championships on Saturday in Durham, N.C.

Duke pulled away with five unanswered goals in the first quarter and led by at least four goals the rest of the way.

Tyler Bradbury and Jordan Hyde led the ASUN-champion Utes (12-5) with two goals each.

Utah set 18 individual and team single-game and single-season records this year. The Utes set program records in team single-season assists (147) and caused turnovers (169), also tying the Utah record for wins.

Dyson Williams scored five goals to lead the Blue Devils (13-5), who will face Princeton or Maryland next Saturday in the NCAA quarterfinals.
