Linebacker Brandon Kaho commits to Utah

The former Alabama player entered the transfer portal on Feb. 19.

The NCAA Transfer Portal continues to be kind to the University of Utah football team.

The Utes picked up their latest commitment from the transfer portal Thursday evening, former Alabama linebacker Brandon Kaho, a former four-star recruit from Reno, Nev. Kaho entered the transfer portal on Feb. 19.

Originally a University of Washington signee, Kaho was released from his National Letter of Intent, then signed with the Crimson Tide. In three seasons at Alabama, Kaho played in 32 games, registering 32 total tackles.

Utah’s previous transfer portal success came in the form of two quarterbacks, Baylor’s Charlie Brewer and Texas’ Ja’Quinden Jackson, and two running backs, LSU’s Chris Curry and Oklahoma’s T.J. Pledger. For the Utes, quarterback and running back were two positions of clear need. Linebacker does not appear to be.

Utah is expected to return All-Pac-12 linebacker Devin Lloyd after the redshirt junior put the NFL draft on hold for another year. Nephi Sewell showed well in his first season concentrating at the position, as did Sione Fotu as a true freshman.
