Utah’s Bradlee Anae and Oregon’s Penei Sewell are voted the Pac-12’s top linemen

(Trent Nelson | The Salt Lake Tribune) Utah defensive end Bradlee Anae (6) pursues Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert in the Pac-12 championship game Friday in Santa Clara, Calif.

Utah defensive end Bradlee Anae was voted by the Pac-12's opposing offensive linemen as a winner of the Morris Trophy.

Anae is the conference’s top defensive lineman and Oregon tackle Penei Sewell, from Desert Hills High School in St. George, was voted the top offensive lineman.

Anae is the fourth Utah player to win a Morris Trophy in the program's nine seasons of Pac-12 membership, following defensive tackle Star Lotulelei (2011), defensive end Nate Orchard (2014) and offensive guard Isaac Asiata (2016).

The senior from Hawaii is second in the Pac-12 with 12½ sacks in 13 games this season and is tied with Hunter Dimick for the school career record of 29½ sacks with a bowl game to come. Anae is a two-time Pac-12 Defensive Lineman of the Week and also was named the overall Defensive Player of the Week after recording three sacks vs. Arizona State in October.

Sewell, who helped Oregon rush for 239 yards Friday in a 37-15 win over Utah for the Pac-12 championship, is a sophomore. Utah had allowed only Arizona State (111) to top 100 yards on the ground this season. He was named a first-team All-American by the Pro Football Focus evaluators and is a four-time Pac-12 Offensive Lineman of the Week.

The All-Pac-12 team and other individual awards, as voted by the league’s coaches, will be announced Tuesday.
