BYU swingman Gideon George declares for NBA draft
George still has one year of college eligibility remaining

The BYU men’s basketball team officially has its first player who could forgo more school to try their hand at the next level.
Gideon George announced on Instagram on Friday that he will declare for the NBA draft, but is still keeping his options open.
“Throughout this process, I will maintain my college eligibility,” George wrote. “I look forward with open eyes and an open heart for what God has in store for me next. I love you all.”
George has one year of eligibility remaining. In his Instagram message, he thanked Cougars coach Mark Pope, his teammates, the rest of the coaching staff and fans for his experience at BYU in the last two years.
George transferred to BYU from New Mexico Junior College. In two seasons with the Cougars, he averaged 7.3 points and 4.3 rebounds in 18.4 minutes per game. He also shot 34.1% from the 3-point line.
