The BYU women’s basketball team had a winning percentage of more than 80% last season and an undefeated home record. So expectations would understandably be high for the 2021-22 season.

The Cougars are picked to win the WCC championship this season by the league’s head coaches, garnering 10 of the 12 available first-place votes. Gonzaga picked up the other two.

Additionally, Shaylee Gonzales, Lauren Gustin and Paisley Harding all made the All-WCC preseason team. BYU’s three represent the highest number of players named to an All-WCC preseason team of any other school in the conference.

The Cougars ended last season with a 19-6 record (13-3 WCC). The team will play a blue-and-white game on Oct. 28, followed by an exhibition against Westminster on Nov. 4 in Provo. The regular season officially begins Nov. 9 against Lipscomb at the Marriott Center.
