Letter: Hatch should call out the president

(Andrew Harnik | The Associated Press) President Donald Trump shakes hands as he awards Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, the Medal of Freedom during a ceremony in the East Room of the White House in Washington, Friday, Nov. 16, 2018.

If outgoing Sen. Orrin Hatch is as concerned about raising “the bar of decency” in Washington as he says he is, he could start by calling out the immoral, illegal and indecent behavior of his guy in the Oval Office.

As the old saying goes, “a fish rots from the head down.”

sltrib.com is now free to access — no subscription required. We made this decision because we believe access to trustworthy, independent news shouldn’t depend on what you can afford — especially as misinformation and AI-generated content continue to rise.

Free to read doesn’t mean free to produce. Our reporters show up every day to ask hard questions and hold powerful institutions to account. That work takes resources.
