Letter: Stewart’s defense of Trump makes no sense

(Leah Hogsten | The Salt Lake Tribune) Incumbent Chris Stewart, Representative for Utah's 2nd Congressional District, won the nomination at the Utah Republican Nominating Convention Saturday, April 21, 2018 with 74% of the vote.

It is hard for my wife and me to understand how Rep. Chris Stewart could defend President Donald Trump’s decision not to blame or take action against Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

Stewart says “journalists disappear” all over the world. I’m sure it would matter to Stewart if it were his son or a relative.

The media said at President George H.W. Bush’s funeral that our U.S. presidents are rated 25 years after their passing. They noted that President Harry S. Truman was rated very low at his passing but, according to the Presidential Historians Survey of 2017, he is now rated sixth. I feel quite sure that, 25 years after Trump’s passing, his rating will be “What were we thinking?”
