Letter: Kudos to Mexico’s leadership and catcalls to that of the U.S.
(Rebecca Blackwell | The Associated Press) Honduran migrant Helda Lainez, 38, is helped by Mexican first responders after falling from the U.S. border wall and hurting her ankle while trying to cross, in Tijuana, Mexico, Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018. After falling, Lainez was unable to make it over the wall, and her 3-year-old and 1-year-old children who had crossed before her were taken into custody by the Border Patrol.
What a contrast in leadership! Our president proposes to spend billions on a border wall and threatens to cut off aid to Central America (we don't offer much to start) because of the caravans, while Mexico, a much smaller and poorer nation, pledges $30 billion over the next five years to ameliorate the problems, including crop failures due to climate change, in Central America.
Can you see the difference in these two "solutions" to the problem? Kudos to Mexico's leadership and catcalls to that of the U.S.
