Letter: Election officials should be ashamed of Tuesday’s debacle
(Francisco Kjolseth | The Salt Lake Tribune) Voters wait patiently in line at Trolley Square near the lunch hour when lines were taking about 30-minutes on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016.
We the people should be outraged with the county clerk offices. Last election I waited two hours to vote, and this year it was no different for me and thousands of others. Five to 10 booths in a election location is unacceptable.
Yes, I could have voted by mail, but how am I to know my ballot was even counted? My signature now does not even look like my signature of 30 years ago. There is no way the election officials can tell me instantly whether my vote was counted.
There is no reason not to have 20-30 booths and extra election officials at every polling location. We the people should not have to wait longer than 30 minutes to cast a ballot.
Election officials should be ashamed and resign. Customer service is paramount here.
