Letter: Make America Hoppy Again!
In this July 27, 2018 photo, the Dave Johnson coal-fired power plant is silhouetted against the morning sun in Glenrock, Wyo. The Trump administration on Tuesday proposed a major rollback of Obama-era regulations on coal-fired power plants, striking at one of the former administration’s legacy programs to rein in climate-changing fossil-fuel emissions. It’s one thing for climate change to kill fellow citizens on our storm-battered coasts and in the wildfire-ravaged West. But now, coal-fired power plants and auto emissions are threatening to kill our beer supply. Enough, already!
Recent reports by the publication Nature Plants and Yale Climate Connections warn that the increased frequency of extreme heat and drought associated with climate change poses threats to the cultivation of barley and hops. Pricier beer! Then, no beer?!?
You can bet Brett Kavanaugh is not the only one ticked off about this!
Do you like beer? Let The Donald know, via your legislators, that it’s wrong to give coal companies and automakers a pass on CO2 emissions during this presidency. Stand up for our suds! Take a stand against climate change!
