Letter: Romney would run America like a business — but that’s not what America needs

Donald Trump is a great businessman.
Mitt Romney is also a great businessman. His handling of the 2002 Olympic troubles showed his business acumen and organizational skills. His op-ed in The Salt Lake Tribune, about being part of a “team” to enhance the agenda of his “team,” confirms his business mentality to me.
I never felt this nation should be run like a business. My perspective is to treat our nation’s people like family. Families come in all types, including dysfunctional and rebellious. You don’t get to choose your family, but you do deal with them. Usually you help them when you can. We still have unconditional love for them, no matter how they behave. We discipline but not destroy. “Which of you, if his son asks for bread, would give him a stone?” (Matthew 7:9.)
Is this cost-effective to for a business? Heavens no! Our founders, in their wisdom, recognized the diversity of the American people and tried to plan for current issues and be flexible for future scenarios to keep the family intact, no matter how frustrating.
