Need to pay a bill or get a building permit? Salt Lake City Hall is once again open for in-person visits.
Mayor Erin Mendenhall announced the reopening Wednesday, 20 months after it closed because of the coronavirus pandemic. The earthquake in March 2020 also damaged stairs at the east and west entries, and those repairs were only recently completed.
“Having our beloved City Hall open again to the public has been a long-awaited moment for us,” Mendenhall said.
All visitors must wear a face mask, and they need to have an appointment. Those are available at appointments.slc.gov. People can sign up to pay their water bill or a parking ticket. They can renew business licenses or process a building permit. They can get a fire code reviewed and more.
City staffers remain available by phone, mail, email and virtual meetings for those who do not want to get an in-person appointment.
