Gap Inc. announced Thursday, Feb. 28, that the company would split into two independent publicly traded companies — one for Old Navy, the other to cover the iconic Gap brand, Athleta, Banana Republic, Intermix and Hill City. The company also said 230 Gap and Banana Republic stores would be closed in the next two years.
