(Photo courtesy of the Utah Geological Survey) Bob Biek of the Utah Geological Survey led the mapping surveys that discovered the remains of massive landslides that swept across southwest Utah 18 million to 25 million years ago. In this photo from the Markagunt Plateau, above Cedar City, Biek points out grooves and striations left in the rock by what he believes is the largest landslide known to have occurred in the planet's history.
