Multiple people, all in their late teens and early 20s, have been taken into custody, according to police.

A man has died after several people beat him up in Magna, police said Monday.

Police were called when witnesses saw people beating up a man near 3600 S. 8400 West in Magna at around 1:30 p.m. Fred Valdamar Ortiz, 41 of Magna, was taken to Intermountain Medical Center, where he died about an hour later, according to FOX 13.

Unified Police Sgt. Melody Cutler said multiple people, all in their late teens and early 20s, have been taken into custody. She said police believe they have everyone involved in the assault.

Cutler said police believe the people who assaulted the man knew him, but that police don’t know a motive for the beating.
