Police arrest boy in connection with Ogden convenience store owner’s death
Officers said he is the same person of interest who was detained on Tuesday.
(Screengrab from surveillance video) Ogden Police shared video surveillance footage that shows a man suspected of fatally shooting a convenience store owner on Sunday. Police announced Thursday that they had arrested a boy in connection with the killing.
The Ogden Police Department announced Thursday night that a boy has been arrested on suspicion of shooting and killing a convenience store owner.
Police say Satnam Singh, 65, was working at his store, Super Grocery, at 675 N. Monroe Blvd. on Sunday evening. Someone entered the store around 11:50 p.m. That person spoke with Singh before pulling out a pistol and shooting him. He died at the scene.
Police said Tuesday that they had detained a person of interest. On Thursday, police said they had arrested a boy in connection with the killing. Officers said he is the same person of interest who was detained on Tuesday. His name has not been released.
“We emphatically restate our thanks to the community for providing tips/information and video submissions in support of the investigation,” police said in a statement. “It is inspiring to see people acknowledge the impact Mr. Singh made in their lives, and a reminder that we all can do the same.”
