Tooele High, Wasatch High going online for two weeks because of coronavirus cases

Two more Utah high schools are suspending in-person classes because of COVID-19 outbreaks. Both Tooele High and Wasatch High hit the 15-case threshold set by the state for recommended closure.

Tooele High School moved to online learning on Friday, according to a post on the school’s website — a decision made by the Tooele County School District board of education “in coordination with the Tooele County Health Department.” The school is scheduled to reopen on Monday, Oct. 26 — a period that includes a previously scheduled fall break on Oct. 15-16.

Extracurricular activities, including performing arts and athletics, will continue.

Wasatch High School will suspend in-person classes beginning Monday, a decision made “in collaboration with the Wasatch County Health Department," the Heber City school posted on Facebook. The school is scheduled to reopen on Monday, Oct. 24. (That period also includes a previously scheduled fall break from Oct. 14-16.)

Extracurricular activities will continue there, as well, according to the school.

All other schools in the Wasatch County School District will remain open.
