A third person has been arrested in connection with a shooting that happened Monday at a protest against police violence in Provo.
Bradley Walters, 29, of Ogden, was charged with aggravated assault and riot after he was filmed pulling a gun on a driver in an SUV near Center Street and University Avenue, per the probable cause statement. As the man attempted to drive his vehicle through a crowd of protesters, Walters chased the car and continued to point the gun toward it until it left the area, the document states.
While this was happening, another individual allegedly shot the driver of the SUV and continued firing.
Aggravated assault is a second degree felony, while riot is a third degree felony.
Two other people were arrested on Tuesday in connection with the shooting, including the man who allegedly shot the driver of the SUV.
A subsequent protest occurred in Provo on Wednesday. It included two opposing groups — one calling for racial equity and an end to police violence, and the other gathering to defend the city’s streets, members said, in response to Monday’s protest.
