Shooting in West Jordan leaves two dead

Two homeless men died in what appears to be a murder-suicide in a West Jordan garage on Sunday night.

The two men, identified as Terence Neilsen, 29, of Alabama, and Anthony Dawson, 29, of Utah, were guests in a home near 7100 South and 1500 West. The homeowners heard gunfire about 5:45 p.m. and found both men had been shot in the garage, police said. One of the men died at the scene; the other was taken to a hospital, where he later died, West Jordan police said.

Police found a handgun in the garage, said Officer Scott List. The deaths appear to be a murder-suicide, but investigators are treating the shooting as a double homicide until other possibilities are conclusively ruled out, List said.

The two men are believed to have been friends, List said.
