This year, the Utah State Legislature approved a change to liquor laws that will allow non-state-run liquor stores to sell beer that is now 4% alcohol content rather than 3.2%. The change will take effect Nov. 1.
On this week’s podcast, co-host Ben Winslow of FOX 13 talks with Kate Bradshaw, director of the Responsible Beer Choice Coalition, the organization that helped get the law changed. Bradshaw discusses the likelihood that some grocery and convenience stores will not have much beer on their shelves as they transition to the higher-alcohol brews. “You may see some of your bars, restaurants, grocery and c-stores not have your favorite. Maybe you’ll switch to a second favorite for a short time. It’s a growing pain the drinking population just has to endure for a couple of weeks,” Bradshaw told Winslow.
