West Jordan man charged with fatally shooting his 17-year-old brother

Emilio Madrigal-Rios, a 19-year-old West Jordan man, has been charged with fatally shooting his 17-year-old brother, FOX 13 reports.

In June, Madrigal-Rios was accused of manslaughter and illegally carrying a concealed weapon, which are both felonies. He was charged Friday with those crimes as well as obstruction of justice.

On June 21, officers with the Unified Police Department responding to a call about a suspicious death in Millcreek Canyon found the body of a 17-year-old boy. Madrigal-Rios told police that he had argued with his brother and that they had struggled over a gun before it went off, shooting the boy.

Police say Madrigal-Rios is a gang member and was previously arrested after being accused of threatening a pedestrian with a loaded gun.
