After crashing his car into a cement barrier on Interstate 15 early Saturday, a man ran across traffic and was fatally struck by vehicles.

The man has been identified as 22-year-old Ismail Ibrahim Hissein Abdallah, of Salt Lake City.

The collisions occurred about 1:30 a.m. near 3900 South in Murray.

The Utah Highway Patrol is investigating what caused the initial crash, Trooper Lawrence Hopper said. Abdallahs’ car appeared to be traveling south when it hit another vehicle, veered right into a concrete barrier, then went left and ran into a concrete barrier on the left shoulder, Hopper said.

Abdallah, who was the only occupant in the car, Hopper said, ran across traffic lanes and was struck by an unknown amount of cars. He died at the scene.
