A new restaurant will soon be opening in the space Pizza Volta used to occupy in Sugar House, in the same building as Wasatch Brew Pub.
Blind Rabbit Kitchen, which will specialize in steak and cocktails, is set to open at 1080 E. 2100 South on Wednesday, May 1, according to their Instagram. The restaurant received its full-service liquor license at the Thursday meeting of the Utah Department of Alcoholic Beverage Services’ liquor commission.
Videos and photos on Blind Rabbit Kitchen’s Instagram show a sleek but cozy interior, with green walls, pendant lighting and a seating area that faces tall windows. A mural of a blindfolded rabbit in a forest is painted above the bar.
Pizza Volta closed last September, after less than a year in business. That month, the pizzeria’s voicemail message stated: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, we have made the difficult decision to close our restaurant. It has been our pleasure to serve you and our community.”
“Unfortunately, we could not continue to operate under the hardships of the current market conditions,” the message continued. “We apologize for any inconvenience.”
Pizza Volta, which served a wide variety of made-to-order pizzas and salads, as well as housemade desserts and cocktails, left its future open-ended, however. On its Instagram, its final post reads: “We hope there is more beautiful pizza in our future — and you will be the first to know.”
