Francisco Kjolseth | The Salt Lake Tribune Provo Library Director Gene Nelson read more than 300 children's books in 2016, many of them two or even three times, to help determine the 2017 Newbery Medal winner, awarded annually by the American Library Association. Adding to his 20-30 hours a week of reading, Nelson overlooks some of the books he's read at the Provo Library recently.
