Because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and concerns about large gatherings, The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square has canceled this year’s “Music for a Summer Evening” concerts, which are usually held in conjunction with Pioneer Day celebrations in July.

“While we are all disappointed not to be singing for the Pioneer Day concert,” said choir President Ron Jarrett, “I am happy to announce that we will begin the 2021 audition process for new choir members. This means we are looking forward to not only singing together in the future, but welcoming new members into our ranks.”

The audition process was suspended in August 2020 because of the coronavirus outbreak. Applicants who made it through the first of four phases of the auditions last year have been invited to return this year, and new auditions begin online on June 1 at TabChoir.org/auditions.

All applications should be submitted online by Sunday, Aug. 15. Applicants must be members in good standing of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, must be between 25 and 55 years old on April 30, 2022, and must reside within 100 miles of the Tabernacle in Salt Lake City.
