(Francisco Kjolseth | The Salt Lake Tribune) Shelby Jensen, who was partially paralyzed on her right side following a stroke at the age of 7, talks about some of her signature moves recently. Jensen of Salt Lake City will be competing in wheelchair fencing — saber, epee and foil — in the Paralympics in Tokyo. She is ranked No. 1 in saber in the USA and No. 2 in the other two. She can stand but uses a wheelchair after having a stroke when she was 7.
Julie left the beach of Santa Cruz, Calif., where she worked for 17 years, for the mountains of Salt Lake City in 2019. She has covered the NBA Finals, the Super Bowl, the World Series, the Maverick's big wave surf contest and two Olympics. A Colorado native, she enjoys creating her own adventure, occasionally with her husband and two kids in tow.
