The Utah Jazz announced Saturday that they have agreed to terms with former BYU player Kyle Collinsworth. In a corresponding move, the Jazz have waived Trevon Blueitt.
Collinsworth’s deal with the Jazz comes a day after the team’s G League affiliate, the Salt Lake City Stars, acquired him from Raptors 905 (the affiliate of the Toronto Raptors).
Last year, in 28 games with Raptors 905, the 6-foot-6, 210-pound wing averaged 10.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.8 steals in 31.1 minutes per game. He also shot 44.9% from the field.
The Provo native has appeared in 32 games in the NBA, all with the Dallas Mavericks during the 2017-18 season. There, he averaged 3.2 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game. Collinsworth also spent two seasons playing for the Mavs’ G League affiliate, the Texas Legends, between 2016 and ’18.
In four seasons at BYU, Collinsworth posted career averages of 12.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.6 steals in 30.9 minutes per game. As a senior, he averaged 15.3 points, 8.2 rebounds, 7.4 assists and 2.0 steals, en route to winning West Coast Conference Player of the Year honors. A three-time All-WCC First Team and two-time AP All-American honorable mention honoree, Collinsworth holds the NCAA Division I men’s basketball record for most career triple-doubles, with 12.
