Letter: Education accommodations? Let me be the judge of what constitutes ‘closely held beliefs’
(Rick Egan | The Salt Lake Tribune) The Institute of Religion near the University of Utah campus, owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Friday, Feb. 6, 2026.
As I get close to retirement and have been considering how to occupy my free time, I have decided that I will apply to be a member of the Closely Held Beliefs Board that will have to be formed to adjudicate requests for education accommodations under the newly passed HB204.
The board will determine if a student’s beliefs are closely held or held more distantly.
It is my closely held belief that I am a good candidate for the job.
