Bill limiting governor’s emergency powers wins final House OK

Under the legislation, if a crisis lasts beyond 30 days, the Legislature could then weigh in on the situation.

(Francisco Kjolseth | The Salt Lake Tribune) Rep. Mark Strong, R-Bluffdale, checks in for a vote on the House floor during the second to last day of the legislative session at the Utah Capitol on Thursday, March 4, 2021. Strong added a religious protection amendment to SB195, reining in the governor's emergency powers, before the bill passed the House. It now awaits Senate OK of the amendment to go to the governor.
