(Leah Hogsten | The Salt Lake Tribune) Standing next to an uprooted Colorado Spruce in Salt Lake City's International Peace Gardens, Mayor Erin Mendenhall announced Sept. 24, 2020, the new effort to replant more than 1,500 trees that were uprooted by the Sept. 8 windstorm. ReTree SLC will raise funds to replant public trees within city boundaries. Donors to ReTree SLC have the ability to specify that their donation go toward replanting efforts in Liberty Park, the Salt Lake City Cemetery, the Jordan River Park/International Peace Gardens, Rosewood Park, or wherever a tree is needed most.
