(Leah Hogsten | The Salt Lake Tribune) Sandy Police Department officers stopped traffic in Little Cottonwood Canyon for the day as avalanche mitigation efforts were underway, Feb 16, 2021. A bill proposed Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2024, by Rep. Gay Lynn Bennion would make clarify that officers can issue a citation to drivers who do not have the proper traction devices when the traction law is in effect.
