ExxonMobil subsidiary penalized for violating federal requirements on Utah reservation

XTO Energy Inc. failed to properly transfer well permits through the EPA and didn’t repair a well that lost mechanical integrity.

On Tuesday, the Environmental Protection Agency announced a settlement with XTO Energy Inc., an ExxonMobil subsidiary, which resolved allegations of federal violations at three injection wells on the Uintah and Ouray Indian Reservation in northeastern Utah.
