San Juan County prosecutors allege the couple tried to deprive the cattle of access to water by closing the gate pictured here. Now the ranchers are facing a criminal investigation for their conduct in the confrontation and are not expected to testify at Franklin's trial Jan. 16 in Price. Charges against Chilcoat have already been dropped.
