Paiute Tribe confirms bodies of 12 children buried at former boarding school site in southern Utah

Tribal leaders say they are now considering “how best to honor and memorialize” the kids who died at the Panguitch Boarding School.

(Leah Hogsten | The Salt Lake Tribune) The former location of the Panguitch Boarding School for mostly the Kaibab and Shivwitz Bands of the Paiute Indian Tribe that operated from 1904 to 1909. Ground-penetrating research has confirmed that 12 students who died there were buried on the grounds.
