Two semitruck drivers killed in head-on crash in Grand County

The semitrucks crashed when one drifted into oncoming traffic on state Route 191.

(Utah Department of Public Safety) Two truck drivers were killed Tuesday morning when one semitruck drifted into a lane of oncoming traffic in the early morning of Tuesday, December 14, 2021.

Two people were killed when a semitruck drifted into oncoming traffic on state Route 191 in Grand County early Tuesday.

The crash occurred shortly before 5 a.m., when an International semitruck traveling north on state Route 191 near milepost 154 drifted left and crossed the center line into southbound traffic. A Kenworth semitruck was unable to avoid the oncoming International semitruck and the two collided head-on.

The driver of the International semitruck died on impact, and the driver of the Kenworth semitruck was treated at the scene but died before a medical helicopter arrived. The names of the two drivers have not been released while the crash remains under investigation.
