Pedestrian is struck and killed by a Weber State police vehicle

Officer was on duty at the time of the Ogden crash.

A man is dead after he was hit by an on-duty Weber State University police officer Thursday night.

The 27-year-old victim, whose name has not been released, was struck about 10:40 p.m. by the police officer, who was driving north in a patrol car on Washington Boulevard near 27th Street, according to Weber State police. The officer and Ogden paramedics tried to revive the victim, but he died at the scene.

The officer was not injured and was placed on administrative leave. The fatal crash is under investigation by Ogden police and the Weber County attorney’s office.
