Jurado represents one of many Hispanic business owners who has been affected by COVID-19. After losing her business license, she can no longer restore and sell used cars at VYL Auto Inc. Many in the Latin community have lost the majority of their business or had to close down altogether, and haven’t gotten government assistance.

Norma Gonzalez, a Texas native, joined The Tribune by way of Arizona. A 2014 graduate of the University of Texas-Pan American, Norma has reported on sports since high school. Some of her former live include being a cake decorator, an educator and Olive Garden server. The unlimited soup, salad and breadsticks still occasionally haunt her dreams.
