He’s a volunteer pianist, WW2 veteran, retired English professor, author and has over 500 jazz hits memorized

Ed Lueders has lived many lives: WWII veteran, English professor and author, and a jazz pianist.

(Leah Hogsten | The Salt Lake Tribune) Ed Lueders, 99 years young, sings while playing the piano at the University of Utah Hospital, Oct. 6, 2022, as he has twice a week for the past decade. Lueders jokingly says he plays "hospital jazz," a mix of jazz improvisation, which is neither to loud or too fast, from a list of songs from the 1920s thru the 1950s. Lueders is an emeritus professor of English at the University of Utah, having taught there 24 years. Although Lueders is now legally blind, he has written 14 books and is about to release his 4th studio album entitled,"Ed Lueders@99."
